No more livejournal updates...

No longer interested in this site. I mostly got it because it was easy to connect with the furry community when I sold masks, but since I don't do that anymore, or won't for a while, no need. I'm going to be transferring my 'blog' over to Tumblr. ;) Follow me there: http://sugarpoultry.tumblr.com/

Quitting Costuming/Masks

This is just a re-post of what I said on deviantArt:

I've been sitting on this idea for a while, and tonight I had my
final push, so... I finally think its time. Yes there's an underlying
reason to this (which will make some happy I'm sure) but I really do
think its time. Time... being the issue. I really don't have any time to
devote to them any more. They were a fun side project and a real push
of my traditional limits, but I'm quitting the masking craft. It was a
lot of fun while it lasted, I really do love my masks and love making
them, but its just so hard sometimes to finish and get motivated to
work. The support from my fans and those who love my masks really keep
me going, but sadly... goodbye masks.

Now, what this really means
is I will no longer accept commissions for masks from here on out. I'll
make a more public announcement of this on my YouTube page tomorrow
when I get the chance. Explain a little more on the 'why' of it. So,
will I make masks in the future? Probably, for fun, and to sell. Will I
take commissions? No. I know this upsets a few of you, those who either
loved to see my works, or wish to commission me, but sorry. I'm throwing
in the towel.

As far as current commissioners I have in my cue,
don't worry, if you're patient, I'll get them done (most likely
starting next year after the crazy holidays are over). One is almost
already done, (that's you :iconikora-chan: ;)
) but I will have no ill feelings if the rest of you on my list want a
refund. The refund might be slow (because I don't have the funds right
now), but know the option is there, and unlike my rules, I'll gladly
refund 100% of what you paid.

Bottom line, life is more important, and I was always more serious about
artwork than I was masks. I do want to thank :iconsharpe19:, :iconmonoyasha: and :iconqarrezel:
for their inspiration and support, especially sharpe. She is literally
the one that got me started and motivated. She taught me almost
everything I needed to know and it was a blast to work with her side by
side while we had the chance. I  you girl.

Anyways,
that's that. I'll be removing several things from my werewolfhaven.net
site, making it official. Hope everyone is having a great holiday
season.

Breaking Dawn Part 1 Review

**************SPOILERS*************
I would advise that people who have NOT read the book, and don't know what to expect, don't read this. If you've read the book, its all familiar to you anyways. ;)

My score: 9/10

Yes, I really felt it did the books justice enough to give a 9. Why just a 9? Because there were a few of those awkward moments, not counting dialog, a few felt off. I dunno, It was just uncomfortable. Transitions into 'dreams' and such were not as flowing as I'd hope. But, so far that is my only negative comment, and I'm getting it out of the way.

I'll break things down in sections, so people get the gist of the movie. Those who have read the book, it will be ALL too familiar. Dialog from the book used all over the place, scenes carefully crafted based off Stephanie's interpretation (she was on set as a Producer so that really helped this movie along. I wish all the movies used her talent, but oh well, we save the best for last right?)

Ok, jumping right into this:

The Wedding

It didn't feel like a movie. It felt like a wedding. It was gorgeous, romantic, and it died in well with the music too (you'll see why). It was also REALISTIC. Weddings with family members can be awkward, funny, and embarrassing. The toasting scene was hilarious. It made you pull back and realize that even for how magical and romantic it was for Edward and Bella, you still know that this is the real world, and they are treated no different than any other wedding couple. ;) I thought this was done perfectly.

The Honeymoon

I know this is the one that everyone is buzzing about, but honestly, I'm glad its not what I expected. Everyone expects it to be overkill and heavily erotic, and while they might have been before they edited a few parts out to make the rating remain PG-13, they were very tasteful love scenes. The magic of everything that goes on in a honeymoon was shown, without getting too detailed. That's what I loved about the books, it captured that very magic without getting mature. I will say the only thing; while nothing is really shown, you do actually 'see' half of her boob, but there are no nips/butts or anything like that.

Overall, the honeymoon was every bit romantic a real honeymoon would be. Yes it was sensual, but best of all and once again, it was realistic. I admit, there is plenty of humor laugh to laugh at in these scenes. It really shows all the elements of a realistic honeymoon between newlyweds, aside from the vampire stuff. ;) I know a lot of people will argue that the honeymoons didn't show enough, but considering how young Twilight fans go, I'm glad they kept it clean. I'm sure when the Blu-ray/DVD's hit shelves, they'll have the uncut version... you know Hollywood, they always have to. lol

Bella's Pregnancy and the Birth

Well, they sure do know how to creep us out. It's very sad to see Bella wither away. They do a good job special effect wise with that, and her belly is creepy, and towards the end, ridiculously huge. >_< Makes me scared to get pregnant again, course I know it'll be nothing like that. ;) Its everything like the book, most of the dialog and scenes are there, while a few things got cut (I think the horror of it would possibly push the rating further. I looked around and a lot of younger girls in the audience had to turn their heads away for certain scenes. Haha

The birth was a lot like the book, keeping you on the edge of your seat: Its gory, frightening, and you really are scared for Bella--and Edward.

Jacob's Imprinting Scene

I really chose to talk about this because EVERYONE thinks that its some pedophile thing, when its not. They don't even mention the word 'love' when they talk about it. Think of a mother goose and her chicks; the chicks imprint because they know their mother is important to them, and will stick with her. That's how it is. When Jacob imprints, the scene is exactly like the book, but the transition into what Jacob is experiencing when he finally see's Renesmee's is a bit awkward, BUT it played a very important role. When he goes through this, it is the future he is seeing, and he see's her and Renesmee is a FULLY GROWN WOMAN. She is not a child. Its not pedophilia. Jacob see's what she WILL become, and that is what he actually imprints, her future. Of course, she's just baby for now, but she'll grow up fast, we all know. And all he does from here on out is protect her (like a mother goose to her chicks). Later when she grows, yeah, its obvious they will start to court and fall in love, but Jacob is not in love with her like that... not yet.

I really think the director focused on this scene to make the people screaming "pedophile" to shut their stupid mouths. And good for him, because usually the people who have a problem with it, don't know a thing about the books and what goes on. So, kudos to the director for setting the record straight. ;)

The Acting

I know the cast has always been criticized for being lousy actors, and in the past, that is true, I won't deny that, but this movie sorta pushes all those bad reps out the window. Everybody in the movie put all they got into their roles, and its shown in every scene, from Jacob crying, to Bella's pain through the pregnancy and birth, to their emotion through the honeymoon, and Edwards as he's watching his wife die.

The Werewolves

Once again, amazing job with their behavior, movement, even pack behavior. I'm always blown away by these werewolves, even if they aren't my favorite type. We FINALLY get to hear their thoughts too! And its done really well! :)

The fight scenes with the werewolves: I'm not gonna lie here, nothing we haven't already scene from Eclipse. There's a few new things, such as unique transformations mid air, and of course, hearing their thoughts, but nothing out of the ordinary. We get to see the spotlight turned on other characters, Seth and Leah, and they do a great job. And OMG I love Seth, he's SUCH a cutie! :D

Well, that's all I can think of to pick apart. You can take this review however you want, but I really do hope you go and see it for yourself (if you've read this far). It's far better than ALL the movies combined, it does the book complete justice. I really think everyone has a chance to enjoy this movie, if they gave it a chance. ;)

My Halloween Werewolf Mask!

The
2 masks on the left are mine, displayed by myself, lazywolf in the
middle. Jmillart on the far left with his own made mask. Both on
deviantArt of the same name. ;)

This mask is leaps and bounds from my very first Halloween werewolf mask 3 years ago. I'm very proud of it.

Mask details:

Mask was cast from a clay model and then duplicated with rubber
silicone. Cast from smooth-on resin and the 'snarly' facial features
built up with Apoxie sculpt. Taxidermy wolf jawset installed; the jaw
moves with the wearers mouth, to give the illusion that the werewolf is
talking/roaring, etc.. Fur was hand sewn and glued onto the mask. Glass
eyes with follow-eye effect: eyes will follow yours no matter what angle
the mask is pointing. Gloves consist of fur sewn over garden gloves,
black crayola model magic clay for the paw pads and FIMO oven bake clay
for the claws, glued and hand sewn. Overall this mask took about 14
hours total of work.
